Current Analyst Recommendations:

Bitcoin is not your traditional asset, and hence it comes with a wide range of analyst predictions. Some predictions have Bitcoin hitting $100,000 this year, others have the cryptocurrency reaching $1M by 2030. Of course, skeptical analysts see the Bitcoin bubble popping and going to $0, or being replaced by another cryptocurrency. One thing that has held true is that the price always increases after a halvening, and this is set to happen in 2024. $100,000 by 2025 is a realistic target.

Quarterly Revenue Growth Year-Over-Year: As a cryptocurrency, Bitcoin does not have traditional cash flow. That being said, Bitcoin is the best performing asset of the last decade, and it's not even close. Average annualized returns of BTC since inception are an eye-popping 200+% (due in large part to how inexpensive it originally was.)

Insiders: We don't know who the insider or insiders are. This decentralized nature makes Bitcoin attractive to many, but makes some investors skeptical.

What makes Bitcoin (BTC) worth your hard-earned money for the next decade or more? Bitcoin is rapidly establishing itself as the premier store of value. We briefly mentioned the halvening (halving) earlier, so here’s an explanation: Roughly every 4 years, the amount of Bitcoin that can be mined (produced) gets cut in half. There are only 21M Bitcoin that will ever be produced, and the 19th million Bitcoin will have been mined by the time you read this article. In simpler terms, BTC started in 2009, and 19M have already been produced. The last Bitcoin won't be produced until 2140 (Yes, we have over 115 years before the last Bitcoins will be mined!). This built-in limit to the available supply makes Bitcoin automatically deflationary.

Why talk about Bitcoin (BTC) to all your friends and family?

Bitcoin is the ultimate cow. If you buy and hold (hodl in the crypto community) then you are likely to make money. Trying to time any market is difficult, trying to time Bitcoin is almost impossible. The market can swing violently. Sometimes you will have steady weeks of growth that can be wiped out in a matter of hours. If you can deal with the swings, Bitcoin has proven to be a winner. If you have a low tolerance for risk and can’t handle watching your money dramatically rise and fall in a matter of days, there is zero shame in investing elsewhere.

Trying to convince friends and family who are crypto-skeptic is an uphill battle at this point, but you can always point to BTC’s average annual returns of more than 200% as an effective argument. Those numbers don’t lie.

How is this asset disruptive?

Cryptocurrency is the most disruptive thing to happen to money in a very long time, arguably ever. To be able to send money quickly to anyone in the world, with no centralized entity in control of that money, is huge. People can be corrupt, banks can be corrupt, countries can be corrupt, but Bitcoin’s ledger is inherently transparent and true. This isn't to say that Bitcoin can't be used for corrupt things, but if I send someone Bitcoin, I can trust that they will get the entire amount that I send them and everyone can verify it on the blockchain.

Conclusion:

Bitcoin is worth a percentage of your portfolio for the next decade. Yes, there is substantial volatility with BTC, but its long track record speaks for itself. If you are patient, you will be rewarded. Scarcity, utility, transferability and demand are the main elements that create market value, and Bitcoin is uniquely positioned to capitalize on each of these. As inflation rises, demand for a deflationary hedge will increase. So while some people think it's crazy to own Bitcoin, I'd argue that it's more crazy not to.

Whiskey Pairing: Lagavulin 16
Retail: $105  Proof: 86

As you celebrate the decentralized future of finance with Bitcoin, we recommend pairing it with this favorite whiskey of libertarian legend Ron Swanson. Fitting to the legendary Parks and Rec character, this whiskey is proudly distinct, complex in composition, and sure to divide opinions. Again, much like Bitcoin.

If you don't rely on the upvotes of fictional characters for your whiskey recommendations, then you can marvel at how the Scots took the essence of scorched firewood and bottled it. Lagavulin 16 is one of the bruisers of Islay scotches, so you'll notice a ton of smoke and peat in the flavor, reminiscent of fine pipe tobacco.

In the finish, a lingering fire with a touch of iodine warms the heart—a great way to finish a windy March and look forward to Spring. Cheers!

My wife and I decided to take a walk before dinner while vacationing in Port Ellen. We wanted to see the distillery from across the bay and the sun was setting at just the right time. If you look closely at the left side of the photo, you can see two seals laying on rocks. We were told at the local pub that it is very rare to see seals in that part of the island.
